This camera is definitely the most unusual Exakta in the history of this company. While previous, horizontal 66 model looked like any other Exakta camera, this one was made in a different way film transport was vertical, not horizontal, so that's the reason why camera has more taller than a wider body. This model has also very unique feauture it has a divided mirror inside. A normal mirror would be too big for work with long lenses, so camera producer decided to make a divided mirror.

Model 6x6 is also equipped with synchronization contact delay, which was not used in any other Ihagee camera. The rest of the camera functions are the same as in other Exaktas- focal plane shutter with exposure times from 1/1000 s. Double-exposure prevention interlock, automatic frame counter and changeable matt screens and finders. The camera was made to prove that this company could compete even with Hasselblad.

Unfortunately this model had problems with the film transport mechanism and other functions it resulted in the end of production. Ihagee Dresden produced only 118 cameras in 1953 and only 2250 in 1954, but many of them were destroyed to not affect on Ihagee Dresden reputation. This specimen has a serial number 600976. A camera body and a Tessar lens are in a very good condition. Leathers in the camera are in a very good condition.

Lens glasses have only very minimal scratches from cleaning and minimal specks inside. Inside of a film chamber is very clean. Mirror and standard matt screen are in a good condtion. Shutter curtains are in a good condtion leakproof.

Shutter seems to be working very well. All exposure times short, long, T, B and selftimer are working. Focus is working very well.

All knobs and parts are working very well. Only frame counter isn't working properly. I think the camera pretends to be a very good and unusual item for collectors needs.
